Knighthouse Media is seeking a highly-motivated, high-energy, results-driven Business Development Sales Representative to join our team. The Business Development Sales Representative is responsible for telephone sales. This individual will be an enthusiastic team player with exceptional phone communication skills and the ability to understand different “buying personalities.” Critically important is to position and communicate the value of our publications and persuade new business prospects to learn more about how we can help their bottom lines.

The Business Development Sales Representative is known as the “tip of the spear” and is vitally important to our business. This position will focus on the first phase of the process. This includes research (internet and other) and phone calls to businesses who will benefit from the editorial features that we write on their behalf in our magazines.

Essential Functions

  • Using existing leads, and finding leads on your own, reach out to “prospects” via telephone and email (expected activity level for this position is 75 to 100 calls per day)
  • Navigate through a conversation flow to uncover business needs, understand “pain points,” and position our publications as a compelling solution
  • Maintain and update an accurate log of activity
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exceptional communication skills-- both written and verbal-- and the ability to promptly build a genuine rapport with prospects over the phone
  • Basic level of tech savvy with computer and internet usage
  • Ability to learn quickly and manage multiple priorities and/or projects
  • Driven and resourceful in finding new approaches to ensure the message is resonating with potential customers
  • Ability to solve problems and identify process improvement opportunities
  • Ability to quickly learn marketing systems and tools

Education and Experience

  • Entry-level, up to 1-3 years of experience in a customer service, lead generation, or sales role is preferred, but not required
  • Experienced sales candidates also welcome
  • Bachelor’s degree a plus, but not required


  • Competitive base salary range of $35K per year plus commissions - truly unlimited earning potential with a realistic expectation of $55K to $65K the first year

The position is full-time and non-exempt.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 – 4:00.
